WORD OF THE 11TH HOUR DEAL BETWEEN FOUR DRUG COMPANIES AND TWO OHIO COUNTIES EMERGED JUST AS OPENING ARGUMENTS WERE SET TO BEGIN BEFORE JUDGE DAN POLSTER IN THE U.S. DISTRICT COURTHOUSE. COUNTY OFFICIALS SAY THE MONEY WILL GO DIRECTLY TO FIRST RESPONDERS AND STRUGGLING FAMILIES.

THE SETTLEMENT INVOLVES SO-CALLED 'BIG-THREE' DISTRIBUTORS MCKESSON, AMERISOURCE BERGEN AND CARDINAL HEALTH PAYING A COMBINED $215 MILLION TO CUYAHOGA AND SUMMIT COUNTIES. THE SETTLEMENT WITH THE TWO OHIO COUNTIES DOES NOT RESOLVE MORE THAN 2600 OTHER OPIOID LAWSUITS NATIONWIDE.

A GROUP TRYING TO OVERTURN THE FINANCIAL RESCUE FOR OHIO'S TWO NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS SAYS IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH SIGNATURES NEEDED FOR A STATEWIDE VOTE.

OHIOANS AGAINST CORPORATE BAILOUTS HAD UNTIL TO MONDAY TO SUBMIT THE SIGNATURES. THE GROUP SAYS IT ISN'T GIVING UP AND WILL CONTINUE WITH A LAWSUIT THAT ASKS TO EXTEND THE DEADLINE. THAT LAWSUIT CONTENDS A STATE LAW REQUIRING THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO CERTIFY SUMMARY LANGUAGE FOR THE PETITION UNCONSTITUTIONALLY CONSUMED 38 OF THE 90 DAYS IT HAD TO GATHER SIGNATURES.

OHIO LAWMAKERS IN JULY APPROVED A ROUGHLY $1 BILLION FINANCIAL RESCUE FOR TWO NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS IN NORTHERN OHIO. THE OWNER OF THE PLANTS SAYS THEY WOULD BE FORCED TO CLOSE WITHOUT THE MONEY.

According to a release from the Findlay Police Department, just after midnight Monday morning a Findlay Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Ford Mustang for an expired registration violation and an equipment violation on Bright Road near Croy Drive. The driver failed to stop for the Officer and immediately proceeded to travel at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The driver fled northbound on Bright Road out of the Findlay City Limits and into Hancock County. The vehicle was last seen on County Road 18 near County Road 109 before the pursuit was terminated. The suspect has not been located at this time.

(Lima, OH)--The Ohio Department of Medicaid is conducting a listening session in Lima today from 1 to 3 at Goodwill of Lima on Allentown Road.

The agency is reviewing the managed care structure and is seeking input from people in the system. Anyone who receives services through Medicaid managed care is encouraged to attend.

Those unable to attend the meeting can submit their feedback through the website at Medicaid.ohio.gov.

(East Rutherford, NJ) -- The Patriots dominated the Jets 33-0 on Monday Night Football at the Meadowlands. Tom Brady passed for 249 yards and a touchdown, and Sony Michel had three scores on the ground as New England ran its record to 7-and-0. The Pats recorded six takeaways in completing a season sweep of Gang Green. Sam Darnold was just 11-of-32 for 86 yards, four interceptions and a lost fumble for New York. Le'Veon Bell had 70 yards on 15 carries for the Jets, who fell to 1-and-5 with the loss.

(Houston, TX) -- It will be a matchup of power pitching in this year's Fall Classic. The Houston Astros host the Washington Nationals in Game One of the World Series tonight. Max Scherzer will oppose Gerrit Cole in the opener of the best-of-seven matchup. The Astros eliminated the Yankees in six games in the ALCS, while the Nationals swept the Cardinals in four games in the NLCS. Houston is led by its rotation of Cole, Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke, while Washington's big three features Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin. The Astros are seeking their second World Series title in three seasons. The Nationals are in the Fall Classic for the first time in franchise history.

(Toronto, Ontario) -- For the third game in a row, the Columbus Blue Jackets played into overtime, but this time came out victorious with a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Columbus jumped out to an early lead scoring two goals in the first six minutes only to give them right back before intermission. Down by a goal going into the final period, Alexander Wennberg tied it, and Gustav Nyquist put in the game-winner just under two minutes into overtime. The Jackets will next play on Thursday when they welcome the Carolina Hurricanes to Nationwide Arena.

(Orlando, FL) -- The Cavaliers are ready to start playing for real. They open the regular season tomorrow night against the Magic in Orlando. Cleveland then comes home to host Indiana on Saturday. The Cavs are now under the leadership of first-year head coach John Beilein.
