A group of Senate Democrats have introduced a bill that would make Washington D.C. the nation's 51st state.
The bill - which has been introduced multiple times since 2013 - would grant the city full representation in Congress.
It would also give the district jurisdiction over local issues - such as activating the National Guard during a crisis like the Jan. 6th Capitol riots.
At 700,000 people, Washington D.C. actually has a bigger population than Wyoming or Vermont.
