The Detroit Lions have agreed to a four-year extension with defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, his agent, Mike McCartney, confirmed in a post shared on his X account Wednesday (October 29).

"Congrats @aidanhutch97 on agreeing to a 4 year extension with the @Lions," McCartney wrote.

McCartney later confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter that Hutchinson agreed to a four-year, $180 million deal.

"Financial details: Aidan Hutchinson is signing a four-year, $180 million extension that incudes $141 million guaranteed, per Hutchinson’s agent @MikeMcCartney7," Schefter wrote on his X account.

The market for pass rushers reset this past offseason after Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett agreed to a four-year, $160 million extension; Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt signed a three-year, $123 million extension; and Micah Parsons agreed to a four-year, $188 million deal after being acquired by the Green Bay Packers in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.

Hutchinson, 25, was selected by the Lions at No. 2 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and has been instrumental in the franchise's rebuild into a perennial contender. The Plymouth native and former University of Michigan standout has recorded 138 tackles, 34.5 sacks and 36 tackles for loss during his first four NFL seasons, which includes 16 tackles, six sacks and six tackles for loss during the 2025 season, just months removed from a fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg.

Hutchinson was selected as a Pro Bowler and recorded a career-best 11.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in 2023 as the franchise earned its first division title, NFC Championship Game appearance and playoff victory since 1991.
