High Waters Lead to Death of Man in Ottawa River Over the Weekend

Lima, OH (WIMA) -- Reports from over the weekend say a man who was trying to rescue his dog from high waters along the Ottawa River died on Sunday.

Authorities say the unidentified man went into the water near Adgate and Fort Amanda roads.

The dog was pulled out of the water safely. Several area fire crews dispatched boats to search for the man.

A body was found by Lima Fire Department crews near the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

In Auglaize County, three people were rescued from high waters from the Saint Marys River on Sunday morning.

The Saint Marys Fire Department responded to the scene just after midnight. A boat was brought in to assist with that rescue.
