Lima, OH (WIMA) -- Lima firefighter Matt Hammons received the Medal of Valor for saving the life of a 6-year-old boy from a house fire last November on Elm Street.
A medal ceremony took place at City Council chambers on Wednesday.
Hammons was humble in receiving the award, saying he was just doing his job.
Assistant Fire Chief Andy Heffner emotionally read the full report of the events that took place.
The boy suffered burns on 50-percent of his body, but he continues to recover.
