Lima, OH (WIMA) - Martin Luther King Junior's speech at Ohio Northern University 50 years ago was remembered on Tuesday.
ONU hosted King on January 11th in 1968 before he was killed later that same year.
The statue is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs over 700 pounds, depicting King behind a podium speaking at the school.
Tad McKillop sculpted the statue starting in July of last year.
He was on hand at the ceremony to help commemorate it.
The statue will stand between Taft Memorial Gymnasium and Weber Hall where the admissions department is, making a statement about the value of inclusiveness and what Doctor King stood for.
