World War 2 Veteran Receives Pilots License

Lima, OH (WIMA) - The Honor Flight program gives World War 2 veterans a chance to see the Memorial in Washington.

A special version of the "Honor Flight" took place on Monday at the Allen County Airport.

90 year-old Donald Zimmerman is a resident at the Wyngate Nursing Home.

His dream was to be a pilot, but life got in the way, including serving his country.

On Monday, he was taken on a special flight to the Bluffton Airport, and in the process, was presented with his honorary pilot license.

Zimmerman previously worked at Lima Memorial Health System as a business director.
