Lima, OH (WIMA) -- September is Safe Driving Awareness Month, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol asks drivers to commit to driving focused, buckled, and sober.
Motorists can also help keep roadways safe by planning ahead and allowing extra time, and be knowledgeable of traffic laws.
Over 11 hundred people were killed last year in car crashes, which was up from 2015.
Despite that number, Ohio is on pace to have a record low number of fatal accidents.
Lima Post Commander Lieutenant David Brown says the roads are safest when drivers devote their full attention to the road.
