Lima, OH (WIMA) -- The Perry Schools Board of Education met on Tuesday, and had some surprises on their agenda.
Superintendent Omer Schroeder is retiring at the end of this month.
The Board took time to recognize his 36 years dedicated to Perry Schools.
The biggest award was the new elementary school, dedicated in his honor with his name.
Schroeder also received thanks from other members of the Perry Community, including the Allen Economic Development Group.
