Cincinnati Reds took a risk on Matt Harvey, will be it rewarded?

Every trade involves an element of risk.
The Reds took a big one Tuesday when they sent Devin Mesoraco to the New York Mets for troubled pitcher Matt Harvey.
In terms of baseball, it’s not much of a risk at all. Mesoraco has become a very expensive backup catcher. Harvey, if he can be close to what he was in 2015, would be a huge upgrade to the Reds pitching staff.
But that’s a stretch. Harvey’s had two surgeries since ’15 — one to relieve thoracic outlet syndrome in 2016 and shoulder surgery last year. And he had Tommy John surgery in 2014.
