Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was released from the hospital after he was brutally attacked in his San Francisco home last Friday (October 28), CNN reported.

The 82-year-old underwent surgery at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital to repair a skull fracture and injuries to his arm and hands.

The alleged attacker, David DePape, 42, allegedly screamed, "Where's Nancy" when he broke into the Pelosi's home. Then, he violently assaulted Paul Pelosi with a hammer as police arrived and took him into custody.

DePape, a Canadian citizen who was illegally in the country, has been charged by California officials with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary, false imprisonment, and threatening a public official. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

He is also facing federal charges of attempted kidnapping and assault with intent to retaliate against a federal official by threatening or injuring a family member.
