Drowned Driver Identified

>>BODY RECOVERED FROM POND IDENTIFIED

(LIMA, OH) -- THE SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT, WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND WATERCRAFT AND THE ALLEN COUNTY DIVE TEAM RECOVERED A BODY FROM A POND NEAR SUPERIOR FORGE ON BUCKEYE ROAD YESTERDAY. THE PERSON HAD BEEN IN THE POND SINCE AN ACCIDENT FRIDAY AFTERNOON. HIS VEHICLE JUMPED THE RAILROAD TRACKS ON BUCKEYE ROAD AND PLUNGED INTO THE WATER. WHILE BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE ABLE TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE, ONLY THE PASSENGER, 34-YEAR OLD JEREMEY CLAY OF LIMA, WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO SHORE.

THE DRIVER’S IDENTITY HAS BEEN DETERMINED BY THE LUCAS COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE. HE IS 38-YEAR OLD RASHEED H. ALMALIK OF LIMA.
