(Undated) -- The world's oldest known spider is dead at 43.
The female trapdoor tarantula was living in the wild of Western Australia's Central Wheatbelt region.
Its long life came to an abrupt end recently after a wasp attack.
Researchers, who called the spider "Number 16," have been tracking its movements for decades.
Typically, these kind of spiders only live five to 20 years in the wild.
