(Undated) -- Sir Paul McCartney is celebrating being made a Companion of Honor in the U.K. for his contribution to music.
The former Beatle received his medal from Buckingham Palace over the weekend, and is only one of a handful of musicians to receive the honor.
McCartney earned the honor 21 years after he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth.
Sir Paul has had 18 number one albums in the U.K., including releases with The Beatles, Wings and as a solo artist.
