Univ of Findlay Oilers Basketball Gets Well Deserved National Exposure

posted by Jason Aldrich -

I was fortunate to do radio play by play for the University of Findlay football, men's and women's basketball, and even a few men's hockey games, back in the late 90's into the early 2000's.

The school's athletic teams made the transition from the NAIA level into NCAA-Division 2 by jumping right in to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The men's hoops team rose to the top quickly, and in 2009, won the D-2 National Championship.

The teams are now venturing into another new league, and nothing has changed, as far as the success goes.

I still keep in touch with a ton of former players and alumni, and of course, continue to root for the current Oilers teams.

Last weekend, ESPN sent a crew to cover the women's and men's games, which were available on ESPN-3.

We had some fun in Croy today! Thanks OilerNation for your support. I'd say we showed ESPN a pretty special venue this afternoon.
