Josh Turner at the Lima VMCCC Crouse Performance Hall, Thu, Jan 18, 2018
I'm not a big country music guy, but Turner's "Long Black Train" from a few years ago really caught my attention.
A gospel-Statler Brothers-deep dulcit-southern swoon-sound is how I would categorize it.
That was one of his final 2 tunes of the night, capping it off with "Would You Go With Me".
He wasn't extremely talkative, and got right down to business with his body of work, including hits like "Deep South", "Time is Love", "Why Don't We Just Dance", "Firecracker", and "Your Man".
Overall, good sound, great lighting effects (by Turner's light guy who is a Lima native), and a decent crowd for a Thursday night show.
That's the nice thing about Lima's downtown Civic Center, getting big time shows like this, without the big city headaches of parking, crowds, etc.
