General Dynamics Receives Contract to Modernize Abrams Tanks

Lima, OH (WIMA) - General Dynamics has received a $310.6 million contract to design, develop and integrate multiple engineering changes into the U.S. Army‘s Abrams battle tank.

That's good news for Lima's Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.

The Defense Department said last week that General Dynamics’ land systems business will support the Abrams program that aims to increase the network compatibility, power generation and distribution, survivability and lethality of the M1A2 tanks.

Work will occur in Lima, Sterling Heights, Michigan, Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Tallahassee, Florida through February of 2024.
