My earliest recollections of this famed American comedian was each and every Labor Day weekend, seeing him stay awake and on TV for about 3 days straight, all to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
I also remember going to the movie theater to see "Hardly Working", which was released in 1980.
That was well past his most popular run in the 1960's with Dean Martin and the gang.
If you enjoyed Eddie Murphy in "The Nutty Professor", you have Jerry Lewis to thank. It was a hit for him in the early 60's.
A lot of people also don't realize that Gary Lewis and the Playboys ("This Diamond Ring") was Jerry's first-born son.
Also, Jerry Lewis was NOT his real name, it was a stage name.
Thanks for the memories and laughs, Jerry, as well as your fight against MD, and "you'll never walk alone".
