I decided to go to the sunshine state for a little 3 or 4 day vacation this year.
And, let me tell you, the sun is HOT this time of year in Florida.
I flew out of Dayton to West Palm Beach. I highly recommend using Dayton's Airport. It's not to big, but has big time service.
I was able to get a little beach time, and as soon as I got out of the water, Baywatch went into action! (No sightings of Pam Anderson or Yasmeen Bleeth, so that was a bit of a downer)
Everyone had to get out of the water due to a shark warning! Wow!
I also like to hit some food joints that we don't have here at home, so I ventured to Primanti Brothers in Sunrise, FL. That's the Pittsburgh-based joint where they pile the fries and cole slaw on top of your sandwich!
I made it to a Wawa, an east-coast based chain of convenience stores, with pretty good food.
One of my favorite stops was a tour of a craft brewery, called "Due South", located in Boynton Beach.
It was hot and humid inside, but the beer was very good.
I also got to check a band I've seen live off of my bucket list. I went to Perfect Vodka Ampitheatre and saw Chicago, who I've seen before, and The Doobie Brothers.
The Doobies were loud, and the old guys can still rock!
Chicago was okay, as all die-hard fans of their music still hold out hope that Peter Cetera will once again grace the band with his voice, even if its only one time, if and when, they get into the Rock Hall of Fame.
So, after almost burning the bottoms of my feet at the beach, and dodging the heat by getting back into air conditioning as quickly as possible, it was a nice few days away.
