Lima, OH (WIMA) - The Allen County Sheriff's Office has received a few complaints about a particular phone scam that uses the actual Sheriff's Office phone number.
Individuals receive a call from a person claiming to represent various banks or tax departments, and further claim the Sheriff's Office will arrest the individual if a payment is not made immediately.
They will quickly follow-up the first phone call with a second call that shows 419-227-3535.
There are hundreds of smart phone applications that allow people to make their number appear whatever they want it to be.
Please call the Sheriff's Office or the Better Business Bureau if you receive a call like this.
