Group Monitors Rail Road Crossing Incidents in Ohio

Lima, OH (WIMA) - Ohio Operation Lifesaver reported a reduction in highway-rail grade crossing collisions in 2016.

The collision rate fell by 14% in Ohio last year, and it's down by 2.4% nationally.

On the other end of the spectrum, the number of people killed at crossings rose over 6% in Ohio and 13.7% nationally.

Ohio is ranked 9th in the US in both crossing and trespass casualties with the top counties being Butler, Hamilton, Lucas, and Wood.
