(COLUMBUS, OH) -- WHILE THE FOCUS SEEMS TO BE ON THE INCREASE OF DETECTED CASES OF COVID-19, HERE IN OHIO THE OTHER METRICS SHOW THINGS HAVEN’T GOTTEN DEMONSTRABLY WORSE. BASED ON THE 21 DAY ROLLING AVERAGE THE HOSPITALIZATIONS PER DAY WENT UP FROM 56 TO 61 OVER THE LAST WEEK, WHILE ICU ADMISSIONS REMAINED THE SAME AND DEATHS WENT DOWN.

(TOLEDO, OH) -- POLICE IN TOLEDO SAY AN INTOXICATED GUNMAN HOLDING A BEER SHOT AND KILLED AN OFFICER WHO WAS RESPONDING TO A CALL IN A STORE PARKING LOT EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

THE POLICE CHIEF OF TOLEDO SAID AT A NEWS CONFERENCE THAT OFFICER ANTHONY DIA WAS SHOT IN THE CHEST AND LATER PRONOUNCED DEAD AT A HOSPITAL. WITNESSES TOLD POLICE THE GUNMAN SHOT THE OFFICER AND THEN WENT INTO A WOODED AREA. THE GUNMAN WAS LATER FOUND DEAD OF AN APPARENT GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE HEAD. HE WAS ONLY DESCRIBED AS A 57-YEAR-OLD WHITE MAN. THE CHIEF SAYS DIA IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE AND A 2-YEAR-OLD CHILD.

(FINDLAY, OH) -- THE FINDLAY POLICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING AFTER A DEAD BODY WAS FOUND SATURDAY MORNING.

ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE BODY OF A MAN WAS FOUND IN THE 200 BLOCK OF JEFFERSON STREET IN A VACANT LOT, JUST BEFORE 9 A.M.

THE MAN’S IDENTITY AND CAUSE OF DEATH HAS YET TO BE RELEASED.
