(WAPAKONETA, OH) -- THE MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY MONDAY AFTERNOON FOR SHOOTING UP AN APRTMENT COMPLEX WAS ARRAIGNED YESTERDAY IN AUGLAIZE COUNTY MUNICIPAL COURT.

HE IS 33-YEAR OLD MATTHEW BRUSHABER. HE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH INDUCING PANIC AND TWO OTHER FELONIES. THE SHOOTING OCCURRED AT THE LAURELWOOD APARTMENTS MONDAY MORNING.

WAPAKONETA POLICE SAY THEY’RE STILL NOT SURE WHY BRUSHABER STARTED SHOOTING AND THEY’RE NOT YET EVEN SURE IF HE WAS TRYING TO ACTUALLY SHOOT AT ANY PEOPLE. THEY SAY BRUSHABER WAS INCOHERENT AS THEY QUESTIONED HIM ALTHOUGH THEY ARE AWAITING TOXICOLOGY REPORTS TO DETERMINE IF HE WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL AT THE TIME.

HIS BOND WAS SET AT $250,000.

IT HAS ALSO BEEN CONFRIMED THAT BRUSHABER IS A FORMER PATROLMAN WITH THE CRIDERSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE LIMA NEWS SAYS HE WAS TERMINATED FROM THAT JOB WITHIN THE LAST YEAR.

THE F-B-I TRACKED PHONE CALLS TEXT MESSAGES AND IN-PERSON MEETINGS. THEY'VE ALSO COMBED THROUGH FINANCIAL, BUSINESS AND GOVERNMENT RECORDS. THESE DOCUMENTS ALLEGE HARPER USED ATTORNEY KEITH MITCHELL TO FUNNEL BRIBE PAYMENTS. THE FBI TRACKED SEVERAL SPECIFIC ACCUSATIONS OF BRIBERY INVOLVING RILEY, HARPER, SYKES AND JOHNSON SPANNING YEARS.

>>ADA TEEN DIES IN TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT

(ADA, OH) -- 18-YEAR OLD ALEX SWEIGART OF ADA WAS KILLED IN A AUTO ACCIDENT LAST NIGHT.

THE HARDIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AT 5:30 AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 81 AND COUNTY ROAD 65. THE REPORT SAYS THAT A SOUTHBOUND BOX TRUCK DRIVEN BY 28-YEAR OLD WALTER L. COLES III OF COLUMBUS, PULLED FROM A STOP SIGN ON COUNTY ROAD 65 INTO THE PATH OF SWEIGERT’S VEHICLE, WHICH WAS TRAVELLING EAST STATE ROUTE 81.

SWEIGART WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE AND THE CRASH REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

THERE ARE OTHER QUESTIONS LIKE HOW TO KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCING IN CLASSROOMS WHEN STUDENT-TEACHER RATIOS ARE SET BY THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.

ALTHOUGH CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN AMPLIFYING INFLUENZA OUTBREAKS, TO DATE, THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE THE CASE WITH SARS-COV-2. FINALLY, AAP SAYS POLICY MAKERS SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT COVID-19 POLICIES ARE INTENDED TO MITIGATE, NOT ELIMINATE, RISK.

HE SAYS THEY’RE HOPEFUL TO POSTPONE IT TO THE 2021 FAIR. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, FRICKE SAYS THE FAIR WILL HAVE RIDES AND FAIR FOOD IN ADDITION CAMPERS WILL BE ALLOWED, ALL WITHIN THE SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES AS ESTABLISHED BY THE ALLEN COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH.
