(LIMA, OH) -- THE ALLEN COUNTY OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HAS EXTENDED A VOLUNTARY OZONE ACTION FOR TODAY. RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CARPOOL, WALK OR RIDE A BIKE; PARK VEHICLES IN SHADED AREAS AND AVOID MOWING THE LAWN, FUELING VEHICLES OR COOKING OUT OVER CHARCOAL BETWEEN 8 A.M. AND 6 P.M. FRIDAY TO REDUCE OZONE PRODUCTION.

(LIMA, OH) -- THE SECOND ANNUAL JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION IN LIMA HAD BEEN CANCELED BACK IN THE SPRING.

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- PROTESTS HAVE CONTINUED EVERY NIGHT IN COLUMBUS, BUT LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SAYS THERE'S BEEN SOME CONFUSION ON HOW OFFICERS ARE SUPPOSED TO HANDLE IT.

SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ARE CIRCULATING SAYING POLICE ARE BEING ORDERED TO STAND DOWN AND THEIR HANDS ARE TIED. BUT COLUMBUS POLICE SAY THAT'S NOT TRUE AND THERE IS NO REASON THEY CAN'T INTERVENE IF SOMEONE WAS ATTACKED. BUT THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE PRESIDENT SAYS PROTESTERS HAVE BEEN SURROUNDING VEHICLES THE PAST THREE OR FOUR NIGHTS AND IT'S LEAVING OFFICERS CONFUSED ON WHAT TO DO.

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE REPORTED YESTERDAY THAT CERTAIN AREAS IN OHIO ARE SEEING SPIKES IN COVID-19 CASES AND WILL BE RECEIVING AID TO HELP STEM THE SPREAD.

DEWINE SAID THERE'S NO CLEAR-CUT ANSWER AS TO WHY THESE HOT SPOTS ARE HAPPENING, BUT SAID IT SHOULD NOT BE A SHOCK BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE ARE MOVING AROUND. SOUTHWEST OHIO IS WHERE THE HOT SPOTS ARE LOCATED. THIS FIVE-COUNTY AREA OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY NEAR DAYTON, GREEN COUNTY NEAR XENIA, CLARK COUNTY AT A DOLE PROCESSING PLANT, WARREN COUNTY AND HAMILTON COUNTIES ARE ALL SEEING SPIKES IN CASES. THE GOVERNOR SAID THOSE COUNTIES WILL NOW RECEIVE A SURGE FROM THE OHIO NATIONAL GUARD TO DO TESTING.

>>OHIO FREE FISHING DAYS TO TAKE PLACE THIS WEEKEND

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IS INVITING PEOPLE TO FISH IN PUBLIC WATERS THIS WEEKEND WITHOUT NEEDING TO PAY FOR A LICENSE. THIS WEEKEND FROM JUNE 20TH TO JUNE 21ST, IS PART OF OHIO'S FREE FISHING DAYS, AND A PERMIT IS NOT REQUIRED TO EXPERIENCE FISHING AT OHIO'S PUBLIC LAKES, RIVERS, AND RESERVOIRS, INCLUDING LAKE ERIE. ANGLERS ARE REMINDED THEY MAY NOW USE A MAXIMUM OF THREE FISHING LINES ON OHIO'S PORTION OF LAKE ERIE AND THE OHIO RIVER, WITH A RESTRICTION OF TWO LINES IN OTHER WATERS ACROSS THE STATE.

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE SAYS FULL-CONTACT SPORTS IN THE STATE OF OHIO CAN RESUME HOLDING WORKOUTS AND PRACTICES NEXT MONDAY. DEWINE MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT YESTERDAY, ADDING THAT IT WILL BE UP TO EACH ORGANIZATION TO DECIDE ON THE BEST TIME TO PROCEED. LOW-CONTACT SPORTS WERE ALLOWED TO RESUME ON MAY 26TH, AND THE OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION OPENED STUDENT-ATHLETE WORKOUTS ON JUNE 1ST.
