>>ALLEN COUNTY CHILDREN SERVICES SUSPENDS DIRECTOR AND TWO OTHERS

(LIMA, OH) -- AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE ALLEGED CRIMINAL CONDUCT OF AN ELIDA MAN HAS LED TO ALLEN COUNTY CHILDREN’S SERVICES TO PLACE SEVERAL MEMBERS OF ITS STAFF ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE.

THE OHIO BUREAU OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING JEREMY KINDLE. THE BUREAU HAS BEEN GETTING COOPERATION FROM ALLEN COUNTY CHILDREN SERVICES TO INTERVIEW EMPLOYEES AND GATHER MATERIALS.

IN ADDITION TO THAT EXTERNAL INVESTIGATION, THE ACCS BOARD MET YESTERDAY AND PLACED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CYNTHIA SCANLAND, AND PROGRAM ADMINISTRATORS BRENT BUNKE AND STACI NICHOLS ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE BEGINNING IMMEDIATELY WHILE IT REVIEWS MATTERS RELATING TO INTERNAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.

KINDLE’S CASE INVOLVES ALLEGED UNLAWFUL SEXUAL CONDUCT WITH FOSTER CHILDREN.

>>LIMA AMONG HARDEST HIT BY SHUTDOWN JOB LOSS

(UNDATED) -- RESEARCH FIRM ADVISORSMITH HAS RELEASED A NEW STUDY DETAILING UNEMPLOYMENT CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 ECONOMIC SHUTDOWNS. THE STUDY USED DATA FROM THE BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS AND COMPARED THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN JANUARY TO THE RATE IN APRIL. ACCORDING TO THE RESEARCH, LIMA WAS RANKED AS THE #9 SMALL CITY IN TERMS OF THE LARGEST INCREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT.

IN JANUARY, THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN LIMA WAS 5.3%, AND THAT RATE IN APRIL CHANGED TO 20.6% FOR AN INCREASE OF 15 PERCENTAGE POINTS.

(LIMA, OH) -- THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO IS FULLY COMMITTED TO RETURNING TO A FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING ON-CAMPUS HOUSING AND STUDENT ACTIVITIES IN A RESPONSIBLE, SAFE, PHYSICALLY-DISTANCED MANNER BEGINNING WITH AUGUST SESSION ON AUGUST 24, 2020 FOR STUDENTS IN THE COLLEGE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGIES AND FALL QUARTER ON SEPTEMBER 14 FOR STUDENTS IN ALL OTHER COLLEGES.

FACE MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ALL FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS WHILE INSIDE ANY CAMPUS FACILITY. IN ADDITION TO MASKS, FACE SHIELDS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR VARIOUS SHOP WORK IN THE COLLEGE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGIES.

(LIMA, OH) – THE LIMA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA HAS ANNOUNCED THEIR PICK FOR A NEW MUSIC DIRECTOR. MAESTRO ANDREW CRUST WAS CHOSEN FROM AMONG THE EIGHT FINALISTS SELECTED LAST SEASON.

ANDREW CRUST JOINS THE LIMA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AS THE 5TH MUSIC DIRECTOR IN THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY, AND ALSO SERVES AS THE ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR OF THE VANCOUVER SYMPHONY IN CANADA. PREVIOUSLY, CRUST SERVED AS ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR OF THE MEMPHIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.

>>PUTNAM COUNTY ROAD CLOSURES

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SAYS A COUPLE OF STATE ROUTES IN PUTNAM COUNTY WILL BE CLOSED NEXT MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

STATE ROUTE 12 BETWEEN ROAD 7-L AND STATE ROUTE 696, JUST EAST OF PANDORA, WILL CLOSE FOR A CULVERT REPLACEMENT AND STATE ROUTE 189 WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF FORT JENNINGS WILL CLOSE FOR DRAINAGE REPAIRS.

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE ANNOUNCED A CHANGE YESTERDAY WHEN IT COMES TO WHO CAN BE TESTED FOR COVID-19. DEWINE SAYS ANYONE AROUND THE STATE WHO WANTS TO BE TESTED FOR COVID-19 CAN GET A TEST. YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE SYMPTOMS ANYMORE. JUST CALL YOUR LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET TESTED. AS FUNDING INCREASES, SO DOES TESTING. NEARLY HALF OF ALL STATES ARE SEEING AN INCREASE IN AVERAGE NUMBER OF CASES PER DAY. BUT OHIO IS NOT INCREASING.

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- DR. AMY ACTON ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT SHE WAS STEPPING DOWN AS DIRECTOR OF THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. LANCE HIMES IS NOW THE INTERIM DIRECTOR FOR THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. DR. ACTON WILL STAY ON AS THE CHIEF HEALTH ADVISOR FOR GOVERNOR DEWINE.
