>>COUNTY FAIRS WILL HAPPEN

(COLUMUBS, OH) -- THE OHIO STATE FAIR WAS CALLED OFF THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF THE CORONAVIRUS BUT COUNTY FAIRS CAN NOW BE HELD. GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE SIGNED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER TUESDAY ALLOWING FAIRS TO FOCUS ON SUPPORTING MEMBERS OF 4-H. THEY HAD BEEN BARRED THROUGH JULY 1ST. FOOD CONCESSIONS ARE ALLOWED ALONG WITH AMUSMENT RIDES. BUT GRANDSTANDS ARE LIMITED TO HALF THEIR SEATING CAPACITY AND NO MORE THAN 2,500 PEOPLE.

>>PUTNAM COUNTY FAIR IS A GO

(OTTAWA, OH) -- THE NEWS FROM COLUMBUS CAME JUST IN TIME FOR THE PUTNAM COUNTY FAIR. FAIR LEADERS HAVE CONFIRMED IT WILL NOW BE A MORE EXPANSIVE FAIR, BEGINNING A WEEK FROM MONDAY IN OTTAWA. THEY WILL HAVE FAIR FOOD AND GRANDSTAND EVENTS ALONG WITH THE JUNIOR FAIR EVENTS AND ANIMAL AUCTIONS. THERE WILL NOT BE RIDES, HOWEVER. THE GOVERNOR’S ORDER ALSO ALLOWS ANIMALS TO REMAIN AT THE FAIRGROUNDS ALL WEEK. THE BARNS WILL HAVE TO BE CLEANED AND DISINFECTED.

>>LIMA CITY SCHOOLS TO HOLD KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

(LIMA, OH) -- LIMA CITY SCHOOLS REMINDS RESIDENTS THAT A RECENT CHANGE IN COVID-19 REGULATIONS NOW ALLOWS THEM TO HOLD REGISTRATION FOR KINDERGARTEN AND PRESCHOOL. IT WILL BE HELD JUNE 18 AT THE LIBERTY ARTS MAGNET SCHOOL AT 338 W. KIBBY STREET.

CHILDREN WHO WILL BE AGE 5 BY SEPTEMBER 30 CAN ENROLL IN KINDERGARTEN THIS COMING YEAR. 3, 4 AND 5 YEAR OLDS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR PRESCHOOL. FULL AND HALF-DAY PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE.

TO ENSURE SOCIAL DISTANCING, JUST THE CHILD AND ONE PARENT SHOULD ATTEND.

>>DRUG RAIDS IN LIMA

(LIMA, OH) -- ON FRIDAY THE WEST CENTRAL OHIO CRIME TASK FORCE, SERVED A SEARCH WARRANT AT 709 HARRISON AVE. IN LIMA. DURING THE SEARCH OF THE RESIDENCE, SUSPECTED METHAMPHETAMINES, SUSPECTED HEROIN, SUSPECTED MARIJUANA, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND DRUG PROCEEDS WERE LOCATED. TWO RESIDENTS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR UNRELATED CHARGES BY THE LIMA POLICE DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO EXECUTION OF THE SEARCH WARRANT BY THE TASK FORCE. CHARGES RELATED TO THE SEARCH WARRANT WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE ALLEN COUNTY GRAND JURY AT A LATER DATE.

ON MONDAY THE WEST CENTRAL OHIO CRIME TASK FORCE, SERVED A SEARCH WARRANT AT 313 S. JAMESON AVE. IN LIMA. DURING THE SEARCH OF THE RESIDENCE, SUSPECTED FENTANYL, SUSPECTED HEROIN, SUSPECTED COCAINE, SUSPECTED MARIJUANA, ONE SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND US CURRENCY WERE LOCATED. THE RESIDENTS, 26-YEAR OLD RAVON D. ISLAND AND 61-YEAR OLD CLARENCE WILSON JR. WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AT THE SCENE. ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE ALLEN COUNTY GRAND JURY AT A LATER DATE.

ON TUESDAY THE WEST CENTRAL OHIO CRIME TASK FORCE SERVED A SEARCH WARRANT AT 443 E. ALBERT ST. IN LIMA. DURING THE SEARCH OF THE RESIDENCE, SUSPECTED FENTANYL, A STOLEN FIREARM, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND US CURRENCY WERE LOCATED. CHARGES WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE ALLEN COUNTY GRAND JURY AT A LATER DATE.

>>ALCOHOL SALES

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- THE OHIO HOUSE HAS PASSED LEGISLATION TO PERMANENTLY ALLOW THE SALE OF TO-GO ALCOHOL FROM RESTAURANTS AND BARS IN THE STATE. HOUSE BILL 669 WAS APPROVED BY LAWMAKERS BY A VOTE OF 84-8 WEDNESDAY. ON APRIL 7TH, GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE ANNOUNCED RESTAURANTS AND BARS COULD TEMPORARILY SELL AND DELIVER ALCOHOL DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE RULING BY THE OHIO LIQUOR CONTROL COMMISSION WAS TO REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR 120 DAYS. UNDER THE RULING, CUSTOMERS WERE ABLE TO PURCHASE TWO PREPACKAGED DRINKS PER MEAL. THE LEGISLATION NOW HEADS TO THE OHIO SENATE FOR CONSIDERATION.
