>>MAN FOUND DEAD AT LIMA TRAVELODGE

(LIMA, OH) -- THE LIMA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING A DEATH AT THE TRAVELODGE HOTEL AT 805 SOUTH LEONARD AVENUE. LPD RECEIVED A CALL AT 12:19 THIS MORNING AND FOUND A DECEASED MALE AT THE HOTEL. THERE IS NO OTHER INFORMATION AT THIS TIME.

>>BODY RECOVERED FROM POND

(LIMA, OH) -- THE SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT, WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND WATERCRAFT AND THE ALLEN COUNTY DIVE TEAM RECOVERED A BODY FROM A POND NEAR SUPERIOR FORGE ON BUCKEYE ROAD YESTERDAY. THE PERSON HAD BEEN IN THE POND SINCE AN ACCIDENT FRIDAY AFTERNOON. A VEHICLE JUMPED THE RAILROAD TRACKS ON BUCKEYE ROAD AND PLUNGED INTO THE WATER. WHILE BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE ABLE TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE, ONLY THE PASSENGER, 34-YEAR OLD JEREMEY CLAY OF LIMA, WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO SHORE.

THE DRIVER’S IDENTITY HIS BEING WITHHELD PENDING A POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION BY THE LUCAS COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE.

>>CONGREGATE CARE

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH REPORTS THAT 63 PERCENT OF ALL CORONAVIRUS-RELATED DEATHS IN THE STATE HAVE COME FROM NURSING HOMES AND OTHER LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES. IN RESPONSE, OHIO GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE HAS ANNOUNCED WHAT HE CALLS THE "CONGREGATE CARE UNIFIED RESPONSE TEAM." MEMBERS OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND OHIO NATIONAL GUARD WILL GO TO EACH NURSING HOME TO DO ASSESSMENTS AND SWAB TESTING. THE GOAL IS TO TEST ALL STAFF MEMBERS IN ALL 960 NURSING HOMES ACROSS THE STATE.

>>COVID-19 NUMBERS

(LIMA, OH) -- THE ALLEN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT IS NOW INCLUDING ACTIVE CASES IN ITS DAILY COVID-19 UPDATES. YESTERDAY’S REPORT SAYS THERE ARE 48 ACTIVE CASES IN THE COUNTY. FOR THE MONTH THERE HAVE BEEN 70 OVERALL CASES REPORTED WITH 11 HOSPITALIZATIONS AND 8 DEATHS.

>>NASA LAUNCH

(MERRITT ISLAND, FL) -- THE WORLD WILL BE WATCHING TODAY AS THE U.S. PUTS ASTRONAUTS INTO ORBIT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NEARLY A DECADE.

NASA HAS PARTNERED WITH SPACE-X TO SEND COLONELS BOB BEHNKEN AND DOUG HURLEY TO THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. THIS IS THE FIRST EVER MISSION WITH A CREW FOR SPACE-X. LAUNCH IS SET FOR 4:30 P.M. FROM THE KENNEDY SPACE CENTER.

>>BLUE JACKETS TO FACE TORONTO IN NEW NHL RETURN-TO-PLAY FORMAT THIS SUMMER

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ARE PREPARING TO RETURN TO ACTION THIS SUMMER IN A NEW RETURN-TO-PLAY FORMAT RELEASED BY THE NHL. COMMISSIONER GARY BETTMAN ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT 24 TEAMS WILL PLAY IN A STANLEY CUP PLAYOFF BRACKET WITH THE JACKETS DRAWING THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS IN THE FIRST-ROUND. THE DATE FOR GAMES TO BE PLAYED IS STILL BEING DISCUSSED, WITH BETTMAN SAYING IT WOULD BE ANNOUNCED ONCE IT WAS DEEMED SAFE TO HAVE PLAYERS BACK ON THE ICE COMPETING AGAINST EACH OTHER. GAMES WILL BE PLAYED IN ONE OF TWO NHL CITIES WITH COLUMBUS AS ONE OF THE TEN FINALISTS TO HOST.

>>NBA STILL WORKING ON A PLAN

(NEW YORK, NY) -- WHILE THE NHL HAS ANNOUNCED A PLAN FOR A RETURN TO PLAY, THE NBA HAS NOT DETERMINED HOW IT WILL POSSIBLY RETURN. THERE ARE REPORTS THAT THE NBA WANTS ALL TEAMS TO REACH THE 70-GAME MARK BEFORE BEGINNING THE PLAYOFFS.

>>MLB, PLAYERS UNION STILL TALKING

(NEW YORK, NY) -- UNDER A SIX-TIER, SLIDING-SCALE PROPOSAL BY MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, A ROOKIE AT THE MAJOR LEAGUE MINIMUM WOULD KEEP ABOUT 47% OF HIS ORIGINAL SALARY THIS YEAR WHILE MULTIMILLIONAIRE STARS LIKE MIKE TROUT OR GERRIT COLE WOULD LOSE MORE THAN 77%. PLAYERS FOUND THE IDEA "EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING" AND THE UNION SAID "THE SIDES ALSO REMAIN FAR APART ON HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS" AIMED AT STARTING THE PANDEMIC-DELAYED SEASON AROUND JULY 4TH.
