(LIMA, OH) -- THE ALLEN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORTED FIVE NEW CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19 YESTERDAY, BRINGING THE COUNTY’S TOTAL CASE COUNT TO 84. THE ROLLING THREE-DAY AVERAGE OF NEW DAILY CASES IN ALLEN COUNTY IS NOW 6.3. HOSPITALIZATIONS REPORTED INCREASED BY THREE, WITH THE TOTAL NOW AT 35. THE DEATH TOTAL REMAINED AT 11.

>>SCHOOL FUTURE

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT IN-PERSON LEARNING IN THE STATE'S K-THROUGH-12 SCHOOLS WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. THAT WASN'T NECESSARILY A SHOCK TO STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

WE DID HEAR A TERM WE MIGHT HEAR MORE OFTEN IN THIS NEW NORMAL. THAT TERM: "BLENDED LEARNING." ESSENTIALLY, IT MEANS A MIX OF ONLINE AND IN-PERSON LEARNING- AND THAT COULD VERY WELL BE A REALITY IN THE COMING SEMESTER.

>>TWO INJURED IN SUNDAY SHOOTING IN LIMA

(LIMA, OH) -- LIMA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING SHOOTING IN THE CITY. APPROXIMATELY 12:30 A.M. OFFICERS WERE CALLED TO 1325 WEST WAYNE STREET IN REFERENCE TO A SHOOTING. TYLE’Q SPARKS AND KI’SHON SIMS WERE TRANSPORTED TO AREA HOSPITALS WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. DETECTIVES ARE FOLLOWING UP SEVERAL LEADS INTO THE SUSPECTS. >>BARN DESTROYED

(LIMA, OH) -- THE AMERICAN TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING A BARN FIRE FROM EARLY MONDAY MORNING AT 7630 W. LINCOLN HIGHWAY.

THE LIMA NEWS REPORTS THAT A PASSERBY CALLED 911 TO ALERT AUTHORITIES TO THE FIRE AND WHEN CREWS ARRIVED, THEY FOUND THE BARN FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE BARN WAS A TOTAL LOSS.

>>OHSAA CANCELS SPRING SPORTS

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- AS A RESULT OF YESTERDAY’S ANNOUNCEMENT BY GOVERNOR DEWINE SUSPENDING IN-PERSON SCHOOLING FOR THE REST OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, THE OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION CANCELED THE SPRING SPORTS SEASON INCLUDING POSTSEASON TOURNAMENTS.

OHSAA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JERRY SNODGRASS MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT IN AN EMAILED MEMO TO MEMBER SCHOOLS. THE OHSAA DOES NOT PLAN TO MAKE A PUBLIC STATEMENT OR MEDIA RELEASE UNTIL TUESDAY AT THE EARLIEST.

THE OHSAA SANCTIONED SPRING SPORTS INCLUDE BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, TRACK AND FIELD, LACROSSE AND BOYS TENNIS.
