>>LIMA POLICE MAKE ARRESTS IN MURDER CASE

(LIMA, OH) -- LIMA POLICE HAVE ANNOUNCED THE ARREST OF TWO JUVENILES IN CONJUNCTION WITH LIMA’S FIRST HOMICIDE OF 2020.

ON 1/20/2020, AROUND 2:45 AM, DANIELLE JACKSON (44 YEARS OLD) WAS SHOT IN A PARKING LOT IN THE 1000 BLOCK OF W. NORTH ST, LIMA.

THE TWO JUVENILES WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR THE MURDER OF JACKSON YESTERDAY. THEY ARE CURRENTLY BEING HOUSED AT THE ALLEN COUNTY JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER.

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DIRECTOR DR. AMY ACTON SAID YESTERDAY THAT THE STATE HAS 6,975 CONFIRMED CORONAVIRUS CASES. TO DATE, 274 PEOPLE HAVE DIED DUE TO COMPLICATIONS RELATED TO THE VIRUS. GOV. MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED FOR TREATMENT, INCLUDING MORE THAN 600 IN THE STATE'S I-C-U'S.

>>NURSING HOMES

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- IN A MAJOR REVERSAL, GOVERNOR MIKE DEWINE SAID YESTERDAY THAT THE STATE WILL BEGIN TO IDENTIFY NURSING HOMES WHERE CORONAVIRUS INFECTIONS HAVE OCCURRED.

THERE ARE 557 NURSING INFECTED HOME PATIENTS ACROSS THE STATE AND, MEDIA ACCOUNTS SAY MORE THAN 30 DEATHS HAVE OCCURRED IN NURSING HOMES. NOW, THE GOVERNOR SAYS THE STATE WILL PUT OUT SOME OF THAT INFORMATION NAMING THE FACILITY, BUT NOT SHARING THE SPECIFIC NUMBER OF CASES TIED TO EACH FACILITY.

THIS CHANGE COMES AFTER REPORTERS HAVE BEEN PRESSING THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR DAYS TO RELEASE THIS INFORMATION.

>>FOOD TRUCKS NOW ALLOWED IN REST AREAS

(COLUMBUS, OH) -- TO ADDRESS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES TRUCK DRIVERS FACE, ACCESS TO A HOT MEAL, THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) IS TEMPORARILY OPENING THE STATE'S 86 REST AREAS TO FOOD TRUCKS.

FEDERAL REGULATIONS PROHIBIT COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY AT REST AREAS, WITH LIMITED EXCEPTIONS. LAST WEEK, THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) ANNOUNCED THEY WOULD TEMPORARILY SUSPEND ENFORCEMENT OF THOSE REGULATIONS.

MOBILE FOOD VENDORS MUST ABIDE BY SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES FROM THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF STAFF AND CUSTOMERS. THE OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL WILL REGULARLY MONITOR REST AREAS TO ENFORCE COMPLIANCE WITH ALL OHIO LAWS AND REGULATIONS BY THE COMMERCIAL FOOD TRUCK VENDORS WHO ELECT TO SET UP OPERATIONS.

>>JUSTIN TURNER TO RETURN TO BGSU FOR SENIOR SEASON

(BOWLING GREEN, OH) -- JUSTIN TURNER, A REDSHIRT-JUNIOR GUARD ON THE BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM, ANNOUNCED ON MONDAY AFTERNOON THAT HE WILL RETURN TO BGSU FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON IN 2020-21.

THE BACK-TO-BACK FIRST TEAM ALL-MAC SELECTION ENTERS HIS FINAL YEAR OF ELIGIBILITY IN THE ORANGE AND BROWN JUST 344 POINTS SHY OF BREAKING THE PROGRAM'S ALL-TIME SCORING RECORD, WHICH WAS SET BY CURRENT ASSISTANT COACH ANTHONY STACEY (1,938 POINTS) OVER 1995-2000.

TURNER ENTERED THE TRANSFER PORTAL IN LATE MARCH. THE NATIVE OF DETROIT WAS RANKED THE NO. 2 TRANSFER TARGET IN THE COUNTRY BY BOTH ESPN AND STADIUM. BEFORE MAKING HIS FINAL DECISION ON MONDAY, TURNER HAD NARROWED HIS LIST TO FOUR SCHOOLS – BOWLING GREEN, IOWA STATE, MARQUETTE AND MISSOURI.

THIS PAST SEASON, TURNER AVERAGED 18.8 POINTS AND BECAME THE FIRST FALCON SINCE STACEY (1999 & 2000) TO EARN FIRST TEAM ALL-MAC HONORS IN BACK-TO-BACK SEASONS. TURNER SCORED 20-PLUS POINTS 14 TIMES IN 2019-20, INCLUDING 10 SUCH EFFORTS IN CONFERENCE PLAY.

TURNER RANKS SEVENTH IN ALL-TIME SCORING (1,595 POINTS) AND THREE-POINT FIELD GOALS (152) AT BOWLING GREEN, WHILE RANKING 10TH IN SCORING AVERAGE (17.0 PPG). ADDITIONALLY, OVER THE COURSE OF 2020-21, TURNER HAS A STRONG SHOT TO ENTER THE TOP-10 WITHIN THE PROGRAM IN CAREER ASSISTS AND STEALS.

BGSU'S LEADING SCORER IN EACH OF THE LAST THREE SEASONS, TURNER HAS BEEN A FOCAL POINT FOR A PROGRAM THAT IS IN THE MIDST OF ONE OF ITS MOST-SUCCESSFUL ERAS. THE FALCONS REACHED THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN 2019 FOR JUST THE FOURTH TIME IN SENIOR SEASON, AND WILL ENTER THE 2020-21 SEASON HAVING WON 20-PLUS GAMES IN CONSECUTIVE CAMPAIGNS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1947-49.

(DOVER, DE) -- THE SECOND-INCARNATION OF THE XFL IS ENDING THE SAME WAY AS THE FIRST WITH THE LEAGUE FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY. ACCORDING TO COURT FILINGS RELEASED YESTERDAY, ALPHA ENTERTAINMENT LLC, THE ENTITY BEHIND THE XFL IS SEEKING CHAPTER ELEVEN BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION FROM ITS CREDITORS WITH AS MUCH AS 50-MILLION-DOLLARS EACH IN ASSETS AND LIABILITIES. THE XFL LAUNCHED WITH EIGHT TEAMS BACK IN FEBRUARY AND HAD COMPLETED HALF OF ITS SEASON SCHEDULE BEFORE IT WAS FORCED TO SHUT DOWN DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC.
