>>Supers Bash Ed-Choice

(Lima, OH)--As the Ohio General Assembly wrestles with changes to the State’s school vouchers program, several area school superintendents held an event at the Allen County Educational Service Center yesterday to voice opposition to EdChoice, the voucher program that allows parents to place students in a private school while the voucher is paid for out of the student’s former school’s funding.

The legislature is considering a compromise that would be less detrimental to public schools, possibly even removing the school’s so-called “report card” grade as a basis for granting a student a voucher.

The superintendents main objection is that their budgets are directly affected and they feel that the voucher money should come from state funds and not the school’s tax base.
