>>Deceased Man Identified
(Lima, OH)--Yesterday’s victim of a deadly fire has been identified. The Lima Fire Department says the Allen County Coroner’s office confirmed that 60-year old Norrise Cousey, a resident in the building at 902 South Main Street, perished when he was unable to escape the blaze.
Hometown Stations is reporting that the fire investigator believes the fire was caused by a space heater. The other nine people that were in the multiple apartments were able to escape. Two of them needed assistance from Fire Department personnel and were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

(Lima, OH)--Former Allen County Sheriff Dan Beck turned in his petitions to run for commissioner yesterday. He will run as an Independent. Beck was sheriff from 1993-2008. In 2009, Beck ran for mayor of Lima. Assuming he gets approved to be on the November ballot, Beck will face the winner of the five-way race for the Republican nomination and a Democrat to fill the seat to be vacated by Jay Begg.
>>Land Bank To Auction Off Home
(Lima, OH)--The Allen County Land Bank held an open house at 528 West Grand Avenue in Lima yesterday. The property is being auctioned by a sealed bid process. Interested parties can get the form needed to bid at the Auditor’s Office or on their website. The minimum bid is $3,000 but Allen County Auditor and Land Bank Administrator Rachel Gilroy says the winning bid will not necessarily be the highest bid as they will take other factors into consideration. Bids have to be submitted to the Auditor’s Office by Tuesday.
>>ACSO Gets New SWAT Vehicle
(Lima, OH)--Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia recently announced an upgrade to the SWAT Team. The Sheriff has purchased a custom built Emergency Rescue Vehicle (ERV) manufactured by Lenco and sold under the name “BearCat.” The armored vehicle was paid for with grants from the Department of Homeland Security and the TCAP state reimbursement grant. No funds were needed from the Sheriff’s annual budget to make the $238,000 purchase. The ERV is designed specifically to protect the occupants inside the vehicle. The single goal of this purchase is to enhance their ability to protect Deputies and citizens. The vehicle will be on display for a media event this morning at the Allen County Fairgrounds.

(Cleveland, OH)--The Cleveland Cavaliers are close to acquiring two-time All-Star center Andre Drummond from the Detroit Pistons.In the midst of another disappointing season, the move before the NBA trade deadline was a bit of a shock as the Cavs were expected to move players like Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson for possible draft picks.In exchange for Drummond, the Pistonsreceive Brandon Knight, John Henson, and a second-round draft pick.The 26-year-old Drummond is averaging 17-points per game this season and can become a free agent at the end of the season.
