>>Dan Beck To Run For Commission Seat
(Lima, OH)--WIMA political analyst Ben Rose reports that former Allen County Sheriff Dan Beck intends to run for Allen County Commissioner as an independent. Rose says that Beck has indicated that he’ll file to run for the seat currently held by Jay Begg, who will not be running for re-election. There will be three republicans running in a primary race for the opening and there will also be a democrat on the ballot in the general election. Beck has until March 16th to file as an independent. Beck was elected Sheriff four times as an independent and served from 1993-2008. He also ran for Mayor of Lima in 2009, losing to David Berger, 56% to 44%. The mayoral race is a non-partisan contest. In 2017, Beck publicly declared his intent to run for Sheriff again, this time as a republican, although he ultimately did not file.
>>Chief Supermarkets to close Eastgate location
(Lima, OH)--Lima will soon have one fewer grocery store.
Fresh Encounter Incorporated, the management company of Chief Supermarkets, has announced that they will be closing the Lima Eastgate location in January.
Chief Supermarkets operates eleven other stores in northwest Ohio, including two Lima locations, one on South Cable Road and the other in the Northland Plaza. Those stores will remain open.
The Eastgate store is holding a 20% off closeout sale in conjunction with the closing.

LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS HAVE CONDUCTED AN EXHAUSTIVE SEARCH FOR HARLEY. THE TOLEDO BLADE REPORTS PORT CLINTON RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES HAVE BEEN ASKED TO PROVIDE POLICE WITH SURVEILLANCE CAMERA FOOTAGE FROM BEFORE AND AFTER THE TEEN DISAPPEARED FOR INVESTIGATORS TO REVIEW.
>>Ohio Teen Accused Of Making Threat At New York Middle School
(Wallkill, NY) -- An Ohio teen is facing charges in connection with an online threat at Monhagen Middle School last December. Wallkill police say the 13-year-old allegedly made the threat around noon on December 9th, which resulted in a lock-down of the school, and the nearby Maple Hill Elementary School. A subsequent investigation led detectives to the Canton, Ohio teen, who's now being charged with telecommunications harassment.

(Lima, OH)--Delphos St. John’s ran its winning streak over Lima Central Catholic their annual rivalry game to five with a 56-48 overtime victory at Father Herr Gymnasium yesterday afternoon.
Biggs Johnson’s three-pointer with just under a minute to play in regulation tied the game at 46-46 and neither team scored again in the period.
St. John’s dominated the OT by getting to the free throw line, making six of their eight attempts.
The Blue Jays improved to 9-0 on the season. They were led by Brady Parrish’s 15 points. Brady Grothaus and Aiden Rode each had 14 points for St. John’s. For LCC (5-5) Evan Unruh led the way with 15 points and Biggs Johnson added 10.

(East Lansing, MI)--Cassius Winston poured in 32 points as Michigan State routed Michigan 87-69 in East Lansing.Lima Senior grad Xavier Simpson scored 14 points and handed out 8 assists for Michigan. MSU improved to 12-and-3 Spartans, while UM dropped to 10-and-4.

(Cleveland, OH) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers lost their fourth straight game with a 118-103 home defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Cleveland outscored Minnesota in the second-half, but the Timberwolves 16-point halftime lead was too much to overcome. The Cavs will take tonight off before hosting the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.
