>>Fatal Crash in Beaverdam

(Lima, OH) -- The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a four vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 75 just north of Beaverdam yesterday afternoon.

The Patrol reports that the accident happened at 5:46 P.M. as a 2019 Chevrolet Impala, operated by Quincy M. Salcido, age 23, of Van Wert, and a 2017 Ford F-350, operated by Richard L. Fender, age 66, of Tipp City, were both stopped in traffic due to a construction backup. A 2014 Volvo semi tractor-trailer, operated by Wisam Dawood, age 34, of Belleriver, Ontario was slowing down as he approached the stopped traffic when a 2019 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer struck the rear of Mr. Dawood’s trailer. All four of the vehicles were then impacted.

The driver of the Freightliner, Bhardwaj Vidit, age 24, of Brampton, Ontario was pronounced dead on scene.The others involved in the crash all reported minor injuries or suffered none at all. All persons involved were reportedly wearing a seat belt. Alcohol or drugs is not suspected to be a factor.The right lane was closed for several hours after the accident.

>>Drug Bust in Lima

(Lima, OH) --The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force issued a statement yesterday that the unit conducted a drug related search warrant late last week at 323 South Baxter Street in Lima. They found a gun,drug paraphernalia, suspected Crack Cocaine and suspected drug proceeds. No charges have been filed but the investigation is ongoing, and potential charges are expected to be presented to an Allen County Grand Jury at a later date.

>>Two Fires on Tuesday

(Lima, OH) --A couple of fires kept crews busy yesterday in Lima. Late in the morning a fire broke out at 127 South Rosedale which caused about $50,000 in damage. Later in the day there was a fire at an apartment building on Elijah Parkway that caused approximately $40,000 in damage. There were no injuries reported from either incident.

>>Shelby County K-9 Finds Missing Child

(Sindey, OH)--The search for a missing child in Shelby County didn’t last long yesterday. The Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page that Deputy Bleigh and K-9 Bandit took only ten minutes to track down a missing three year old child. The post goes on to say that situations such as that are exactly why law enforcement has K-9 units.

>>Still No Deal To End UAW Strike

(Detroit, MI)--United Auto Workers members are on the picket lines for the 24th day today as contract talks continue with General Motors.UAW vice president Terry Dittes sent a letter to union members after talks concluded on Tuesday, saying he had little progress to report on the union's core issues.Those include better wages, pensions, healthcare benefits, and improved safety.With nearly 50-thousand workers off the job, GM has shut down 33 manufacturing plants and 22 parts distribution facilities.

>>Rays Force Game Five With Astros

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- The Rays and Astros are going to a decisive Game Five in their American League Division Series. Tommy Pham [[ Fam ]] homered to ignite a three-run first inning as Tampa Bay beat Houston 4-1 in Game Four in St. Pete. Willy Adames added a solo shot for the Rays, who evened the best-of-five series at two. Game Five is Thursday in Houston. Ryan Yarbrough pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief. Justin Verlander was tagged for all four runs in three-and-two-thirds to suffer the loss. Robinson Chirinos homered in the eighth for the Astros' only run.

>>Cavs Hold Wine And Gold Scrimmage As Preseason Continues

(Cleveland, OH) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are continuing to prepare for the upcoming NBA season as they gear up for a preseason game on Friday. The team held the annual Wine and Gold scrimmage last night, which gave fans another chance to see the Cavs 2019 draft picks in action. Top picks Darius Garland and Kevin Porter Junior ran drills before a light exhibition scrimmage tipped off featuring a mix of veterans, rookies, and Training Camp invitees. The team will have an off-day today before heading to Detroit on Thursday for practices ahead of Friday's preseason match with the Pistons.
