>>Ascura Given Probation

(Lima, OH) --20-year old Tristan Ascura was sentenced to probation Monday in Allen County Common Pleas Court.

The sentence stems from his arrest in July of 2018 on charges of inducing panic and making a terrorist threat after four fellow students told authorities he had threatened to “shoot it up” at Elida schools. He had previously pleaded guilty to one count of making a false alarm.

The Lima News reports that his defense attorneys claimed that Ascura was merely playing a video game when he made the threats and that he had no intention of causing harm. His attorney also said that Ascura’s 14 months served in jail was “for a case that was blown entirely out of proportion.”

The judge ordered Ascura to serve two years on probation and ordered that he not be on or around property owned by the Elida school district. He was also ordered to forfeit the rifle taken from him when he was arrested.
