>>Crish Sentenced to 11+ Years
(Toledo, OH) --Former Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish learned his fate yesterday in Toledo Federal Court.
He was sentenced to more than 11-plus years in prison by U.S. District Court Judge James Carr.
In March, Crish pleaded guilty to two counts of extortion, two counts of soliciting bribes, and one count of making false statements to investigators. Prosecutors had requested a sentence of between 12 and a half and 15 and half years in prison. Crish also owes over $600,000 in restitution to his victims.
Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia says that this closes a sad chapter in the history of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and they have long ago moved ahead to work to repair the damage done by Crish.
Crish has said that he has a gambling addiction and that led to his criminal behavior.
>>LPD Arrests Armed Robbers
(Lima, OH) -- Lima Police dealt with a strong arm robbery last night at about 8:00. They say a 25 year old Auglaize County woman was robbed at gunpoint, at the apartments located at 760 E. 4th Street.
The woman went to the apartments in response to an advertisement posted on the popular internet site “LetGo”. The transaction involved the sale of a video gaming system and a cell phone. The victim was given directions to the apartment complex, by a subject posing as an interested customer. When she arrived at the complex to sell the items, two male suspects got into her vehicle and used a gun to rob her of the gaming system and the cellular phone.
The woman fled unharmed, and contacted the police. Just before 2:00 a.m., officers located and arrested the two suspects, inside one of the apartment buildings. The suspects arrested were 18 year old Kirk Brenneman and 20 year old Jason Sledge, both of Lima. The gaming system was recovered and the firearm was also located during the investigation. Both Brenneman and Sledge were charged with suspicion of aggravated robbery and held at the Allen County Jail.
