>>Crish To Be Sentenced Today

(Toledo, OH) --Former Allen County Sheriff Sam Crish will be sentenced today in Toledo Federal Court.

In March, Crish pleaded guilty to two counts of extortion, two counts of soliciting bribes, and one count of making false statements to investigators.

Prosecutors have requested a sentence of between 12 and a half and 15 and half years in prison.

Crish also owes over $600,000 in restitution to his victims.

He resigned in January of 2017 and he was formally charged in June of 2018.

Crish has said that he has a gambling addiction and that led to his criminal behavior.

>>Shawnee Residents Favor New School Buidlings

(Lima, OH) -- A plurality of Shawnee Township residents favor building a new high school and middle school as opposed to renovation.

As reported by the Lima News, the Shawnee School Board released the survey results this week. They say 40% of respondents favored a new building while 20% favored renovation and 18% preferred the status quo.

In November, Shawnee Township voters rejected a 10-year 4.482 mill additional tax levy by a %4-46% margin.

>>Elida Football Coach Resigns

(Elida, OH) -- Elida High School announced yesterday that Head Football Coach Bill Speller has resigned that position. He had been placed on administrative leave last week after players submitted a letter of grievances to the administration. The Lima News has subsequently reported that the players detailed that the coach wanted players to play while injured and used profanity. The list of allegations also says that Speller grabbed the facemask of a player and called them names. The most damning allegation is that the coach threatened to make players run in practice if an opposing player wasn’t “taken off on a stretcher”.Assistant Coach Dan Larimore will serve as Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

(Cincinnati, OH) -- The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 9-2 to clinch a spot in the National League postseason. Reds starter Tyler Mahle gave up a grand slam home run to Ryan Braun in the first inning as the Brewers jumped out to a six-run lead and never looked back. Eugenio Suarez hit his record-breaking 49th home run for the Reds as the only bright spot for the Cincy offense. That is the most home runs ever in a season by a National League third baseman. The Reds will now look to avoid being swept this afternoon as the team plays the last game of the season at Great American Ball Park.

(Chicago, IL) -- The Cleveland Indians' playoff chances took a hit as the team lost to the Chicago White Sox 8-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Indians fell to a game-and-a-half behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the second American League wild card spt. The Oakland A's are a half-game clear of Tampa Bay for the top wild card. Jose Ramirez homered for third time in two games since coming off the injured list, and Franmil Reyes had three hits to lead the Tribe offense, but starter Shane Bieber was touched for ten hits and five runs over five innings. The Indians will match up with the White Sox again tonight in what is now a critical must-win game.
