>>Pedestrian Struck in Lima, Suffers Serious Injury

(Lima, OH) --The Lima Police Department is investigating an accident that saw a pedestrian struck by a vehicle late last night.

At approximately 11:30 a man walking on Jackson Street near Pearl Street suffered what LPD called “serious injuries”. The man was taken to St. Rita’s. His identity is being withheld pending family notification this morning.

>>Overall Crime Down in Lima, but Violent Crime Sees Uptick

(Lima, OH) --Lima Police Chief Kevin Martin tells WIMA that overall crime in Lima is down about 12% year over year through August, despite an uptick in violent crime such as Tuesday afternoon’s drive by shooting on Nye Street.

Chief Martin says LPD will beef up patrol in neighborhoods with a high rate of violent crime and use traffic stops to aggressively police those areas.

>>Botkins Man Killed in Crash Wednesday Night

(Wapakoneta, OH) --The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Patrol says 26-year old Jordan Fledderjohann of Botkins was killed in an accident Wednesday night.

Troopers say that Fledderjohann failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Cover Four Road in Mercer County and he vehicle was struck. Fledderjohann was ejected from the vehicle as it travelled off the road and overturned.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Alcohol is not suspected in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.

>>BOATERS RESCUED

AUTHORITIES WHO RESPONDED AFTER A BOAT CAPSIZED ON LAKE ERIE SAY THEY RESCUED EIGHT PEOPLE, WHO WERE FOUND WITHOUT LIFE JACKETS.

THE U.S. COAST GUARD AND THE LORAIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAY A 36-FOOT CATAMARAN OVERTURNED IN ROUGH WATERS A FEW MILES FROM THE LORAIN LAKEFRONT WEDNESDAY. STRANDED WITH A CELLPHONE THAT HAD ONLY EMAIL CAPABILITY, THEY MESSAGED A FRIEND WHO THEN CONTACTED THE COAST GUARD. RESCUERS FOUND THE BOATERS ON TOP OF THE OVERTURNED VESSEL, WITH ONLY MINOR INJURIES, AND RETURNED THEM SAFELY TO SHORE.

(Lima, OH) -- Lima Senior standout Josiah Fulcher announced he will play college basketball at Bowling Green in a ceremony at the Lima Senior Gym yesterday. He reportedly had 10 Division I offers including Bowling Green, Kent State and Ohio.

>>Reds Rally To Avoid Sweep In Seattle

(Seattle, WA) -- The Cincinnati Reds scored five runs in the seventh inning to beat the Seattle Mariners 11-5 and avoid a three-game sweep. Down by three, the Reds rallied for nine unanswered runs with five in the seventh and four in the eighth to put the game away. Freddy Galvis drove in four runs with a grand slam home run and Eugenio Suarez and Curt Casali each added a two-run homer in the rally. Cincinnati will now head to Arizona tonight to begin a weekend series with the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

(Seattle, WA) –- The Reds have announced that rookie CF Nick Senzel’s season is over as he has a partial tear of the labrum in his right shoulder. Surgery may be necessary.

>>Indians Welcome Twins For Pivotal Series Tonight In Cleveland

(Cleveland, OH) -- The Cleveland Indians are welcoming in the Minnesota Twins for a pivotal three-game weekend series beginning tonight at Progressive Field. The Indians are four games back of the Twins for first place in the division and a half-game back of Oakland for the wild card. Rookie pitcher Aaron Civale will get the start for the Tribe, looking for his fourth win of the season in nine starts. Minnesota will counter with righty Jake Odorizzi who hasn't allowed more than three runs in ten of his eleven starts since the All-Star break.
