>>Nine People Injured In Two Vehicle Crash
Yesterday afternoon about 5:30 the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded a two-vehicle injury crash on North Rumbaugh Road at the intersection of Bechtol Road in eastern Allen County near Lafayette.
It was determined that a 2016 Ford Escape driven by 19 year old Brianna Birchfield of Lafayette turned south on to Rumbaugh Road and caused a collision with a 2015 GMC Yukon driven by 36 year old Cliff Nickles of Harrod. Both vehicles ended up off the west side of Rumaugh Road. Two passengers in Birchfield’s vehicle had to extricated by mechanical means.
A total of nine people, including four minor children were injured, but all were considered non-life threatening injuries.
The Patrol says properly worn seat belts and child safety restraints minimized injuries and that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

>>Lima Senior vs. LCC
Tonight, for the first time since 1981, Lima Senior will play another Lima team in a varsity high school football game when the Spartans host the team that shares their stadium, the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds.
A big crowd is expected and because of that Lima Senior Athletic Director John Zell says they will being strictly enforcing seating protocols pertaining to not being able to reserve seats in the general admission area. Gates will open at 5:30 for those who purchased a pre-sale ticket and a limited number of tickets will go on sale at the gate beginning at 6:00.
By the way, in 1981 Lima Senior played Shawnee to wrap up a seven-game series that ran from 1975-81 and saw the Spartans post a 4-3 record against the Indians.
While both schools have said they’re open to playing again, it won’t happen until at least 2021 as both have contracts for Week 1 games the next two years.
