MIKE DEWINE YESTERDAY ANNOUNCED HE HAS A PLAN THAT MAY HELP STOP THE NEXT MASS SHOOTING; INCLUDED IN THE PLAN: UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ALL GUN SALES AND CREATING A SAFE PROTECTION ORDER SIMILAR TO A RED FLAG LAW THAT WOULD ALLOW A DUE PROCESS HEARING TO ALLOW COURTS TO TAKE AWAY GUNS FROM THOSE WHO ARE AN IMMEDIATE THREAT TO THEMSELVES OR OTHERS. THE LEGISLATURE WILL NOW TAKE UP THE ISSUE.

DAYTON'S CHIEF OF POLICE SAID YESTERDAY THAT SUNDAY'S MASS SHOOTING IN THE CITY IS NOW BEING INVESTIGATED JOINTLY WITH THE F-B-I.

INVESTIGATORS FOUND EVIDENCE THAT THE SHOOTER HAD AN APPARENT OBSESSION WITH VIOLENCE AND MASS SHOOTINGS AND HE WAS EXPLORING VIOLENT IDEOLOGIES. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT INDICATES A RACIAL MOTIVATION.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP IS SCHEDULED TO VISIT DAYTON THIS MORNING.

THE CITY'S MAYOR, NAN WHALEY, WILL MEET WITH HIM.

DAYTON POLICE ARE FINALIZING DETAILS FOR HIS VISIT, BUT PROMISE OFFICERS ARE READY FOR ANY DIGNITARY VISITS.

AT APPROXIMATELY 1:30 THIS MORNING A CAR-TRAIN COLLISION LED TO THE ARREST OF A ST. MARYS MAN. 48-YEAR OLD GLEN TUTTLE WAS CHARGED WITH OVI. AFTER THE SLOW-SPEED CRASH IN THE 400 BLOCK OF NORTH MAIN STREET, THE CAR WAS DISLODGED AND TUTTLE DROVE AWAY. HE WAS PICKED UP AT EUREKA AND SCOTT STREETS. THE TRAIN’S CONDUCTOR WAS UNAWARE OF THE COLLISION UNTIL CONTACTED BY POLICE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

THE LIMA NEWS REPORTS THAT LAWRENCE HUFFMAN DIED TUESDAY AT THE AGE OF 89. HUFFMAN WAS THE PATRIARCH OF THE LIMA LAW FIRM HUFFMAN, KELLEY, BROCK AND GOTTSCHALK AND ALSO SERVED AS ALLEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR FROM 1969-1976. HIS LAW CAREER IN LIMA SPANNED 60 YEARS.

>>Carmen's Crew Beat Golden Eagles In Winner Take All TBT Finals

(Chicago, IL) -- William Buford hit a free throw worth two-million dollars to send Carmen's Crew to a 66-60 victory in the finals of The Basketball Tournament. The team made up of Ohio State alumni including Aaron Craft, David Lighty, and Jon Diebler will now split a two-million-dollar grand prize. Buford finished with 14-points and made every one of his free throws during the tournament. Carmen's Crew becomes only the third team to have won the title after four-time champion Overseas Elite and a team made up of Notre Dame alumni who won the first TBT in 2014.

>>Reds Finish Two-Game Sweep Over Los Angeles Angels

(Cincinnati, OH) -- The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Los Angeles Angels 8-4 to finish a two-game sweep at Great American Ball Park. In a game delayed by weather, the Reds battled back from three runs down thanks to home runs from Eugenio Suarez, Jose Iglesias, Aristides Aquino, and Tucker Barnhart. The Reds have now won three in a row and four of their last six. Cincinnati will take today off before welcoming in the Chicago Cubs on Thursday for a weekend series.

>>Indians Rained Out Will Play Doubleheader On Wednesday

(Cleveland, OH) -- The Tuesday night game between the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers was called on account of rain. The two teams will make up the game on Wednesday as part of a traditional doubleheader. Game one will start at 1:10 p.m. with rookie Zach Plesac on the mound for Cleveland. Fans with tickets for Wednesdays originally scheduled game may use them to attend both while those with tickets for Tuesday's postponed game can exchange them for a later date or for the doubleheader before first pitch.
