>>A Dangerous and Deadly Weekend in Lima
(Lima, OH)--Lima Police are investigating two shootings from over the weekend, one of which resulted in Allen County’s fifth homicide of 2019.
Just before midnight Friday night, LPD responded to the 700 block of Franklin Street in response to a shooting. There they found 31-year old Gregory Cooper of Lima, lying in the roadway. He had been shot several times.
He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.
Anyone with information on this shooting should contact the Lima Police Department at 419-227-4444, Detective Steve Stechschulte at 419-812-0059 or CrimeStoppers at 419-229-STOP.
Then just after 10:00 Saturday night Lima Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Leland Avenue to deal with another shooting. The report says 46-year old Patrick Kelley was driving his car near Leland Avenue and Charles Street when he was struck by gunfire.
He suffered non-life threatening wounds.

THE STATE REPORTS NEARLY 37,000 FEWER CHILDREN WERE ENROLLED AS OF MAY OF THIS YEAR, COMPARED TO FEBRUARY 2018. OVER THE LAST DECADE MEDICAID ENROLLMENT IN OHIO HAS SURGED TO MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION CHILDREN.
THE AKRON BEACON JOURNAL REPORTS CHILD ADVOCACY ORGANIZATIONS ARE URGING THE STATE TO INVESTIGATE THE LOWER NUMBERS. THEY ALSO ARE URGING THE STATE TO SIMPLIFY A MEDICAID RE-ENROLLMENT PROCESS THAT CAN BE DIFFICULT, PARTICULARLY FOR THOSE IN POVERTY.

(Muskegon, MI)--Tyler Tolve drove in four runs to tie the Great Lakes League single season record in helping the Lima Locos post an 11-9 win at the Muskegon Clippers Sunday night. Tolve now has 52 RBI and has two games remaining to break the record. As for the team, Lima improved to 26-13 and clinched the league’s best record for the season. They are at Muskegon tonight and tomorrow before hosting the first game of a best-of-three league semifinal series Thursday night at Simmons Field.

(Cincinnati, OH) -- The Reds failed to score with the bases loaded and left ten men on base in a 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in Cincinnati. Starter Anthony DeSclafani struck out a career-high eleven batters over six strong innings but got little offensive help. Pinch hitter Phillip Ervin homered for the Reds in the eighth to cut the lead to one, but the Cardinals answered in the ninth off closer Raisel Iglesias. Cincinnati will now head to Milwaukee to begin a three-game set with the Brewers starting tonight at Miller Park at 8:10 and we’ll have it on WIMA.

(Cleveland, OH) -- Tribe third baseman Jose Ramirez continued his hot streak as the Indians topped the Royals 5-4 at Progressive Field. Ramirez hit the go-ahead homer in the sixth inning to fuel a three-run rally and send Cleveland to the win. After a horrible start to the season, Ramirez is now batting 333 with five home runs and 18 RBIs over his last 22 games. The Indians finish their homestand with a record of 7-3 and will now hit the road to begin a series tonight in Toronto against the Blue Jays.

(PORTRUSH, Ireland)--Ireland's Shane Lowry won the British Open by six strokes to pick up his first major championship. After setting the 54-hole tournament record, Lowry shot 1-over in wet and windy conditions to finish 15-under par at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Tommy Fleetwood placed second at 9-under par, Tony Finau finished third at 7-under, while Brooks Koepka - who had won three of the previous six majors - and Lee Westwood tied for fourth at 6-under.
>>Kevin Harvick Wins NASCAR At New Hampshire
(Loudon, NH) -- Kevin Harvick is leaving New Hampshire with a 21-race winless streak in the rearview mirror. Harvick held off Denny Hamlin in a frantic final lap to take home the win at the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at Loudon. Hamlin and Harvick made contact coming into the final turn, but the number-four held on for his first win of the season. Hamlin would finish second. Erik Jones placed third, while Ryan Blaney and Matt DiBenedetto rounded out the top five.
