>>Spencerville Man Killed in a Two Vehicle Crash on SR 117

(Lima, OH)-- 53-year-old Rodney Hardeman of Spencerville lost his life in a crash on State Route 117 near Sunderland Road yesterday evening.

The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred just after 6:00 P.M. when Hardeman ran his 2009 Pontiac G-6 off the right side of the road several times before crossing over the center line and being struck by a 2012 Chevy Equinox driven by 38-year-old Gregory Nix of Coldwater.

Nix, who was wearing his seat belt, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Hardeman, who was not wearing his seat belt sustained fatal injuries. Drugged impairment is suspected as being a contributing factor to this crash.

This crash remains under investigation.

>>Delphos Man Suffers Serious Injury in Accident

(Wapakoneta, OH) --A collision involving a dump truck and a semi sent a Delphos man to a Toledo hospital with serious injuries yesterday morning.

The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the accident happened at 9:50 on U.S. 33 at Interstate 75.

The semi, being driven by 52-year old Robert Eshelman of New Carlisle pulled off the exit ramp to U.S. 33 in front of the dump truck driven by 54-year old Joseph Menster of Delphos.

Menster was trapped in the dump truck for about an hour before being extricated and life-flighted to Mercy Health St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo with serious injuries.

The Auglaize County Prosecutor’s Office will investigate possible charges against the semi driver.

>>Locos Fall at Monarchs

(Adrian, MI)--The Lima Locos fell to the Michigan Monarchs in 12 innings last night, 4-3. Lima still has the best record in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League at 20-10 despite back to back losses. They’re at Michigan again tonight.

>>Mets' Alonso Wins MLB Home Run Derby

(Cleveland, OH) -- Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is the 2019 MLB Home Run Derby champion. The slugging first baseman beat Blue Jays rookie Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 23-to-22 in the finals in Cleveland. Alonso topped the Indians' Carlos Santana and the Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. in the first two rounds. Guerrero Jr. hit a single-round record 29 home runs to easily beat the A's Matt Chapman in round one. He then outlasted the Dodgers' Joc Pederson 40-to-39 in a semifinal showdown that featured three tiebreaking swing-offs. Guerrero finished the night with a record 91 homers as the Derby runner-up.

>>Verlander, Ryu Named All-Star Starting Pitchers

(Cleveland, OH) -- Justin Verlander will start for the American League and Hyun-Jin Ryu for the National League in tonight's MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland. It will be Verlander's eighth All-Star game, but his first start since 2012 when he lost in Kansas City. He says he's grateful for another chance on this stage.

Ryu is a first-time All-Star and the first South Korean-native to start the Midsummer Classic. Ryu is 10-and-2 with a major league-best 1.73 ERA in 17 starts with the Dodgers. Verlander is 10-and-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 19 starts with the Astros. The American League has won six straight in the series and is 18-3-and-1 in the last 22 Midsummer Classics.
