Bon Secours/Mercy Merger

Lima, OH (WIMA) - Two large hospital systems in the U.S. Midwest and Mid-Atlantic have announced plans to merge.

A combination of Bon Secours Health System Incorporated, and Mercy Health, which operates Saint Rita's in Lima and is based in Cincinnati, will rank as one of the largest chains nationwide, with 43 hospitals and operations in seven states.

A spokeswoman for Bon Secours said they “are focused on the patients and communities we serve, and we do that in a variety of ways depending on the community and the resident needs.”

Mercy operates 21 hospitals across Ohio and two in Kentucky.

One of Bon Secours’ 20 hospitals is in Kentucky. It also has hospitals in New York, Maryland, Virginia and South Carolina.
