Antwerp, OH (WIMA) -- The search for Branden Powell, the man who escaped Paulding County Sheriff's custody while in transport back on Friday, is over.
Officers from the Sheriff’s Office, the State Highway Patrol, F-B-I and U-S Marshals located Powell in the basement area crawl space of his parents’ home on Monday night around 6pm in rural Antwerp.
Instead of surrendering, Powell shot and killed himself a few hours later.
Sheriff Jason Landers said in a statement that even though it wasn't the result they wanted,he was still appreciative of all of the law enforcement and their work since last Friday.
