Shawnee Township (WIMA) - O-DOT held an informational public hearing on Thursday night regarding the possible future reconstruction at the intersection of State Route 117 and State Route 501.
Two separate options were presented- the first being a realignment of the intersection that would cause O-DOT to obtain a right a way that would take the place of a church and wetlands that are currently present.
The second option that was recommended by O-DOT would allow them to obtain a right a way to realign the intersection- that would instead take place of a current residential pond to be filled in.
Project Manager- Eric Scheckelhoff- explained that the intersection currently has a high crash history.
Public comment will be accepted for the next thirty days- then O-DOT will choose the option in June- and construction is scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2016.
